Why we exist

One Conversation at a Time was founded by Johan A Eriksson and is now run by a team of people who all share a passion for better conversations in society.

We are a volunteer-driven, non-profit initiative:

• Non-partisan – we do not promote any political party.
• Non-religious – people of any or no faith are welcome.
• Mainly volunteers who want a kinder, more open conversation climate.

We started One Conversation at a Time from a simple conviction: good conversation is the foundation of a good society.

Consider how much rests on our ability to talk with each other. How we make and keep friends. How we cooperate, at work and beyond. How we resolve conflict. How we put forward an idea so it takes hold. Conversation is the most important tool we have when we move from being separate individuals to becoming a collective.

We also believe that people are fundamentally good and want to do right by others. That everyone has the capacity to get better at conversation. And that almost everyone, deep down, wishes for better conversations than they have today.

Yet we do something strange: we rarely equip people with the tools for good conversation – even though so much of a functioning society depends on them. We want to change that, by gathering evidence-based knowledge and simple tools and making them free for everyone to use and share. One conversation at a time.
